«Экотел» (МТС-Украина) против «Киевстар»

«Неограниченный» от «Киевстар» не даёт покоя конкуренту, МТС-Украина.

Как известно, этот безлимитный пакет – единственный в Украине, не проводящий разграничения звонков по направлениям. Все похожие предложения других мобильных операторов имеют, как правило, ограничение – не более четверти (1/4) трафика разрешается посылать на чужие сети, (например, 3000 минут на свою сеть, 1000 минут – на “чужие”).

В МТС, по-видимому, решили, что исключений на рынке “безлимитных” быть не должно.

Google cripples traffic for reduced blog posting

After a week of non-writing at STEREO website statistics showed Google search’s contribution for traffic diminished somewhat noticeably – by as much as 20% (approx).

This was deduced from observing the proportions of contributions from two of the top 3 search engines topical for STEREO – Google, Windows Live and Yandex.

Yandex is new here, yet it is perceived as important traffic supplier having provided 1/4 of the Google’s traffic during previous two months. This week the distance between the two was shrinking.

BTW “Add to bookmarks” figure in AWstats felt a bit too: from the whopping 36.6% in the beginning of the month to 34% for the 24 days of November. So you rather have a good reason to suspend writing like this.

Small wonder the traffic in general continued to grow as usual, 1% a day on average – this is the momentum at work.

GTПонадобилось подключить два новых киевских мобильных номера в ГТ по программе “Наши люди”. Нам любезно отказали в предоставлении номеров в сериях 459-xxxx и 494-xxxx, несмотря на наличие множества свободных номеров в них.

Таким образом, для простых людей остались доступны прямые номера только в диапазонах 491-xxxx и 493-xxxx, т.е. примерно в половине киевского номерного ресурса Голден Телеком GSM, выделенного под мобильную связь.

Google strives to acquire user data. All those services – Gmail, Earth, Maps, … you name ‘em – are geared to harvest personal behavioral information to “better serve ads to the customers”. G doesn’t even hide its intentions and directly states them in ToS (Terms of Service) pages.

Запуск переадресации – точка бренду Ace&Base

ACE&BASEВнимательные абоненты Киевстар GSM какое-то время назад уже начали замечать внезапное пропадение слов “Ace&Base” из фирменного лексикона оператора. Теперь компания называет продукт как “Услуга предоплаченной связи «Киевстар»”, т.е. отдельной торговой марки Ace&Base де-факто больше не существует.

Конец бренда пришёл с концом растянутой во времени (но небогатой событиями) цепочки преобразований сервиса в сторону уподобления полнофункциональному пост-пейду.

Последним звеном, пожалуй, можно считать санкционирование функции переадресации входящих вызовов, осуществляемое постепенно для всех пользователей припейда в течение этой недели.

Почему номера 8-800 в Украине оканчиваются нулём

Когда несколько лет назад в Украине вводилось новшество (а оно ещё и сейчас новшество – посмотрите, как часто в рекламе добавляются приписки “дзвінки безкоштовні”, т.е. многие владельцы номеров 8-800 до сих пор считают, что народ недостаточно просвещён) – номера 8-800 – было, как я понимаю, принято одно из наиболее дальновидных решений в украинской телекоммуникационной отрасли – ограничиться шестью значащими цифрами при выделении номеров в зоне 8-800.

Имеется в виду тот факт, что все номера 8-800, находящиеся сейчас в эксплуатации, последней цифрой имеют “0″, т.е. представляются в формате 8-800-xxxxxx-0.

Некоторые телефонные провайдеры даже указывают ноль в конце явно: например, Укртелеком предоставляет номера 8-800 в диапазоне 8-800-50ХХХХ0.

Why they Colorize old Black-and-white Movies

The Three Musketeers (1948)The excellent “The Three Musketeers” by George Sidney (1948) on TCM reminded me of numerous disputes of colorizing old movies.

And I thought I got the idea, at least with the old movies depicting even older epochs – like in the case with the Musketeers.

See, the idea is that a color movie of 40′s is as much unusual as a B&W movie of a more recent period, like “Schindler’s List” (1993)

What is common in these two situations – the events portrayed are greatly divided from the times they are played by actors. So the purpose of the artificial addition (“colorization”) or removing (b&w shooting) of the color might very likely be an attempt of amplifying a dramatic impact on a viewer with the improbable connection of the Unconnectable (subsets of Time in this case)
