FBI helps drop porn addiction

People of God know it’s unacceptable to look at any porn, because the Lord said so in Mat.5:27.
To the gentiles the government says: don’t watch at the very least illegal child porn. FBI stresses the hint by promising to send an armed raid to you at dawn if you just intend to watch it.

Roderick Vosburgh, a doctoral student at Temple University who also taught history at La Salle University, was raided at home in February 2007 after he allegedly clicked on the FBI’s hyperlink. Federal agents knocked on the door around 7 a.m., falsely claiming they wanted to talk to Vosburgh about his car. Once he opened the door, they threw him to the ground outside his house and handcuffed him.

That’s a new technique from FBI posting hyperlinks that purport to be illegal videos.

Linked files are encrypted garbage but federal law does not require to actually watch illegal material, the only attempt to download that is enough to get into jail for up to 10 years.

Vosburgh was lucky in that he’s only facing three to four years in prison, not 10. There are even chances of him avoiding jail altogether - provided the attorney will prove he was watching “just” porn, not child porn.

However, he almost certainly is not going to get away of all the burden of the case like being barred for 15 years from many types of work he was trained to do, stained image overall etc, etc.

Now if you think you’re safe going just “legal” porn, think again.

Vosburgh case shows that FBI is very determined about all this. Here, what Feds have ultimately got against the defendant was too tiny thumbnails depicting some naked presumably minor females in a hidden thumbs.db Windows file in the suspect’s computer.

The scenario of getting into Vosburgh’s shoes is extremely realistic for any porn addict:

  1. for “fun” they visit a “legal” adult website,
  2. by way of automatic mechanisms such as “pop ups” such website unexpectedly shows and stores on their hard drive child-porn images, without being requested,
  3. out of curiosity, on another website, they click a “child video” link which happens to be a government’s hyperlink,
  4. in a blink of an eye their life is ruined.

A contemporary counterpart warning of what’s been for us for ages in Proverbs 5:

5:8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
5:9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
5:10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
5:11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, …

See, Prov. 5:8 corresponds to steps 1-3 above, and Prov.5:9-11 explain step 4 in detail: loosing your honor, spending years in prison or in ban from work, loosing your wealth and labouring for others and finally be totally consumed - all stemming from unremarkable lust in the beginning.

Can be avoided though, read more in chapter 5 of Proverbs.
